It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Amos Newman Jr. of Tylertown, Mississippi, born in Monticello, Mississippi, who passed away on May 18, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Newman and Golda Wooley Newman. He is survived by: his family, Monticello and Tylertown; his wife Dorothy Phillips Newman; and his sons, Amos Newman III, Antonio Newman, Sr. (Felicia) and Dr. Anthony David Newman (Letitia). He is also survived by one granddaughter and three grandsons; three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alcorn State University Foundation, Inc. (1000 ASU Drive #810, Lorman, MS 39096-7500) in honor of Amos Newman, Jr.
