It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carmen Yates of Taylorsville, Mississippi, who passed away on February 11, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her son Keith Eugene Yates; her parents, Chalmer Eugene Smith and Virgie Elizabeth West Smith; and her siblings, Walter Smith and Janie V. Smith Ashley.
She is survived by: her husband Marshall Paul Yates, Sr. of Taylorsville, MS; her children, Marty Yates (Penny) of Huntsville, AL, Denise Yates Martin (David) of Hendersonville, TN and Kim Yates Leavitt (David) of Bay Springs, MS; her grandchildren, Shelby Yates of White Bluff, TN, Claire Yates Suski (Cruise) of Nashville, TN, Daniel Leavitt of Bay Springs, MS, Grace Leavitt Schrimpshire (Matthew) of Ellisville, MS, Taylor Martin of Chicago, IL and Caleb Martin of Hendersonville, TN; and her siblings, David Smith (Delores) of Mize, MS, Jo Ann Smith Bedgood of Bay Springs, MS and Bonnie Smith Temple of Taylorsville, MS. She is also survived by other family members and friends.
