Sammy R. Keene, 82, a resident of Summit, MS passed away January 5, 2018 at his residence. Visitation will be Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Hollywood cemetery.Dr. David Millican and Rev. Mike Morris will officiate. Mr. Keene was born August 20, 1936 in Lawrence County to Charles F. Keene and Sadie R. Keene.He was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church, a US Army veteran, a retired MS Highway Patrol Trooper; having served for twenty-three years, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Magnolia, Scottish rite and Wahabi Temple in Jackson, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Marcia R. Keene, a daughter; Deborah K. Byrd, sisters; Billie J. Morris, Joann Wilson, a brother; John D. Keene. He is survived by his son-in-law; Darren Byrd, grandchildren; Jennifer Byrd May and her spouse Adam, Dustin Byrd and his wife Victoria, and Cory Byrd, great grandchildren; Kayla Nikole May and Rebecca Louise Byrd, brothers-in-law; Bill Richardson and Carol, Raymond Richardson and Debbie, sister-in-law; Janet Hunter Richardson, a special friend; Nell White, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
