With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dartha McMurray (Starkville, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 31, 2024 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Downs and Eloise McElroy Downs; her husband John McMurray (Johnny); and her brothers-in-law, Fred, David McMurray of Starkville, Tommy Hildreth of Amory, MS and Donnie Carlisle of Germantown, TN..
She is survived by: her children, Dede Pepper (Ronnie) of Starkville, Monica Partsch of Manassas, VA and John McMurray Jr. (Teresa) of Starkville; her grandchildren, Michelle Tehan (Alan), Randle Prisock (Tiffine), Jerry Partsch (May) of Navarre, FL, Rosemary Messenger (Ben), Mary Kathryn Thompson (Drew) of Gluckstadt, MS, Emily Lovelady (Brandon) of Starkville and Tori Palm (Zach) of Starkville; her great grandchildren, Hayes Prisock, Paisly Knight (Zane), Brayden, Addison Messenger, Merritt, Palmer Partsch, Hannah, Hollise, Houston, Drew Tehan, Jace, J. R. Lovelady, Landon Russell, Levi, Mary Karson Hart, Cruz Williams and Lincoln Palm; her great great grandchild Blakely Knight; her sisters, Martha Carlisle of Germantown, TN and Judy Hildreth of Amory, MS; and her sisters-in-law, Betty McCoy of West Point, MS, Jeanette McMurry of Mathiston, MS, Jewell Cartwright of Tupelo, MS and Jean McMurray of Columbus, MS. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Welch Funeral Home (201 W Lampkin St, Starkville, MS 39759).
