He is survived by: his wife Helen Scanlan; his children, Janet Petterson (Robert) of Lynchburg, VA, Deborah Scanlan (Mike) of Carrabelle, FL, Karen Scanlan of Franfurt, KY and Dale Scanlan, Jr. (Carla) of Lynchburg, VA; his stepchildren, Mike Mulvihill of Brandon, MS, Dr. Jim Mulvihill of Brandon, MS and Lisa Tisue (Alan) of Fort Worth, TX; his brothers, Richard Scanlan (Judy) and Harold Scanlan (Sharon); his grandchildren, Nicholas Petterson (Samantha), Lauren Allen (Trevor), Blake Scanlan (Candace), Josh Birmingham and Corey Scanlan; and his stepgrandchildren, Samantha Smith (Nathan), Michael Tisue, Noah Tisue, Joshua Tisue and Matthew Mulvihill (Sarah). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
