He was predeceased by: his parent Hurst Blackwell; his wife Frances Womack Blackwell; his son George Basil "Buddy" Blackwell, Jr.; his mother Winnie Mae Bullock Blackwell; his siblings, Hurst Douglas Blackwell and Betty Lou Blackwell Palmer; his grandson Brocklyn Graves-Blackwell; his daughter-in-law Miriam Graves-Blackwell; and his siblings-in-law, Gene White and Gloria Blackwell.
He is survived by: his children, Rio Graves-Blackwell of Diamondhead and Wendye Blackwell Lanier (Ricky) of West Columbia; his grandchildren, Amity Gipson (Josh) of Diamondhead, Jacob Crowder of Columbia and Joshua Crowder of West Columbia; and his siblings, Billy Blackwell of Hattiesburg, Scotty Blackwell (Bonnie) of Hattiesburg and Sue White of Seminary. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
