He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Monk and Ruth Sistrunk Monk; his wife Deloris Monk; his daughter Nez Moore; his great grandchild Justin Dewayne Bray; his son-in-law Red Myers; and his siblings, Billy Wayne Monk, Mary Ladd and Ann King.
He is survived by: his children, Kaye Myers of Lawrence and Herman Monk, Jr (Angela) of Forest; and his siblings, Floyd Monk, Helen Luke, Rachel Brooks, Etoile Smith, Lola Dean Elmore and Jo Windham. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.
