He was predeceased by: his son Steven R. Koonce; his sisters, Mary James, Dot Hincy, Eva Spicer, Ruby Sprabery and Jony Rusche; and his mother Rose Nell Koonce.
He is survived by: his wife Lamerle Koonce; his sons, Charles A. Koonce (Cindy) and Leslie B. Koonce (Shirley); and his daughter-in-law Nancy Wood (Rick). He is also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
