It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Carter Scruggs of Sardis, Mississippi, who passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Ben Tillman; her husband Ernest Scruggs (Lit); and her siblings, Spiva, Malcolm, Byron Carter and Evelyn Carter Biggers.

She is survived by: her son Lee Scruggs (Mary) of Phobe, MS; and her sister Yvonne Dyson (Shug) of Jackson, MS..

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
