She was predeceased by: her husband Ben Sawyer, Jr.; her parents, Recie McKenzie and Francis McKenzie; and her sisters, Esie Lott (Nathan) and Hilda Fortenberry (Fred).

She is survived by: her daughter Gwendolyn Sawyer; her nieces, Mary Warner, Mona Clark, Pat Cordell and Debbie Simmons; and her nephew Larue Lott. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
