He was predeceased by: his parents, Jordan J. Gatlin and Wilhelmena Clark Gatlin; and his siblings, Joe, Edward, Garland, Haskell, Nelson and Nell Brownlee (Estelle Thomas).

He is survived by: his siblings, Delma Gatlin of Laurel, MS and Thelma "T. J.".
