She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Theodore Gusmus and Julia Lois Barrett Gusmus; her siblings, Cecilia Carr, Noble Gusmus, Raymond Gusmus and Paul Gusmus; and her grandson Joshua Sheffield.

She is survived by: her child Judge John Hoyt Sheffield; her wives, Lisa and Sharon of Blue Springs; her grandchildren, Jonathan Davis, Benjamin Davis, Sarah Sheffield Monts, Max Sheffield and Elizabeth Sheffield; her great grandchildren, Seth Sheffield, Emma Kate Davis and Elektra Monts; and her brother James Gusmus of Saltillo.
