He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Helen Smith of Winchester; and his wife Alona Hinds Smith. He is survived by: his children, Lola (Winnie), Avery (Russell) of Pearl, Cindy Mae Cole (Joe) of Redwood and John Curtis Smith (Angie) of Blanton; his grandchildren, Melissa Avery Sines (Thomas) of Denton, TX, Christy Avery Morehead (Brian) of Pearl, Natasha Smith Carwyle (Adam) of New Albany, Dixie Vance Gaul of Vicksburg and John Robert Smith (Kaely) of Benton; and his siblings, Grace and Sam. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork (73 N 2nd St, Rolling Fork, MS 39159). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at the Mound Cemetery (149 Bear Lake Rd, Rolling Fork, MS 39159).
