He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Carl Benson and Cecile Maude Casey Benson; and his siblings, John Thomas "Junior" Benson, Carleen Benson Colson and Pegge Benson Hopper.
He is survived by: his wife Carla Freeman Benson; his children, Skip Benson, Jr. (Becky), Tommy Benson (Kim) and Teresa Cooper (Brad); his grandchildren, Beth Benson, Cindy Ralph (Jacob), Trip Benson, Carlee Harrell, Brooke Ann Hopper (Andrew), Teigh Benson, Megan Mills (Jordan) and Carleigh Cooper; and his great grandchildren, Rosie Benson, Adalyn Forsyth, Izzy Ralph, Gage Harrell, Bo, Bren, Ronnie Grace Harrell, Maggie Hopper and Brentley Mills.
