He was predeceased by: his parents, James Kimble and Ruth Axon Smith; his sons, Scott Smith and Joey Kimble Smith; and his siblings, Sugenia Tolbird and Tony Smith.

He is survived by: his siblings, Jennie Brannan (Jimmy) of Ripley and James E. "Jeb" Smith (Kathleen) of Dumas; and his grandchildren, Zach, Madison, Makenzie, Makarley, Anna and Joey. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
