He was predeceased by: his parents, Kye Payton and Lottie Hermie Waldon Meeks; his son Bobby Joe Meeks; and his siblings, Nylene Stroupe, Leroy Meeks and Paul Meeks.

He is survived by: his wife Neva Mays Meeks; his daughters, Vicki Richerson of Bristow, OK, JoAnn Jones (Virgle) of Michie, TN, Billie Jean Smith (Tommy) of Ripley and Nancy Luttrell (Marvin) of Ripley; and his siblings, Jane Cornelius of Ripley, Brenda Roberts (Wallace) of Baldwyn, Rebecca McClain of Baldwyn and Charles "Buddy" Meeks (Linda) of Blue Mountain.
