He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam R. Lyle and Tressie White Lyle; his brothers, Captain Charles L. Lyle and Bernard W. Lyle; and his son David L. Lyle.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Edith Davis Lyle (Dottie); his children, Kenneth Lyle (Kathy) of Memphis, TN and Janet Shaw (Lee) of Crowley, TX; and his daughter-in-law Kim Lyle of Madison, MS. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Madison.
