He was predeceased by: his former wives, Mary Alice Brewer Byrd and Audrey Byrd; his parents, O. L. Byrd and Selma Byrd; his son Oliver Byrd; his siblings, Don Byrd, Clifton Byrd, Tom Byrd and Nancy Pollinger; and his stepfather Clyde Powell.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Carroll Byrd of Richton; his daughter Cecelia Weeks (David) of Richton; his stepchildren, Scott Elmore (Beth) of Richton and Tonia Harrison (Wayne) of Richton; his grandson Justin Garris of Hattiesburg; his stepgrandchildren, Kanah Raine Chapman, Cooper Chapman, Luke Chapman, Logan Overstreet, Justin Overstreet, Bryce Mathis, Ashley Morris, Blaine Elmore, Mica Myrick, Haley Hopkins, Logan Howard and Phillip Nicholson; and his brothers, Jerry Byrd (Rebecca) of Richton, Harold "Nig" Byrd (Elaine) of Richton and Raymond Byrd of Laurel. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
