He is survived by: his wife Arluin Henderson Mercer; his children, Betsy McKee (Shawn) of Richardson, TX, Shawn Mercer (Katie) of Richton, MS and Dr. Charles Mercer (Chara) of Collierville, TN; his grandchildren, Mercer Ann Moon (Ryan), Patrick McKee, Harison McKee, Olivia McKee, Anna Claire Brown (Wes) and Matt Mercer; his great grandchild Charlie Moon; and his brother Cary Mercer (Kaye) of Arcadia, FL..

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Richton (400 Elm Ave, Richton, MS 39476). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to The Baptist Children's Village in Clinton or Homes for Hope for Children in Hattiesburg.
