He was predeceased by: his mother Betty McWhorter; his siblings, Warren Fred McWhorter and Donna Kay Bivens; and his grandparents, Major Bivens, Mildred Bivens, Jessie Keith and Vertie Keith.
He is survived by: his wife Lynn Bivens; his children, James O. Bivens (Louise), Teresa Roberts (Derek), Elizabeth Salinas (Fernando) and Dorthy Ivy; his stepson Ethen Havens (Hannah); and his grandson Logan Havens. He is also survived by 3 sons.
