With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Merle Virginia Kennedy of Quitman, Mississippi, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Merle Virginia left this world on December 24, 2024 at the age of 101, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her mother Mae Martin (Fleming); her husband Leon Kennedy; her father Walter T. Martin; her son Dale Kennedy; her daughter-in-law Judy Kennedy; her grandson-in-law Danny Wayne Palmer, Jr.; and her siblings, Bertha Williams, Helen Wilson Zitterow, Drucy Martin, Ed, Carl, James, Ray, Haskel "Buddy", Joe Paul and Sam Martin.
She is survived by: her children, Dennis Kennedy (Peggy), Tony Kennedy (Donna), Mike Kennedy (Cathy) and Marlene Lewis (Jerry); and her daughter-in-law Sandy Kennedy. She is also survived by 18 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, 16 Great-Great Grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (38 Co Rd 132, Quitman, MS 39355). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
