He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Lawson Slay and Mary "Parkie" Slay (Parkman); his grandson John Devin Meadows; and his brother J. L. "Sonny" Slay. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Riley Slay; his children, John Steven Slay, Leigh Ann Slay and Shaun Parkman Slay (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Hunter Meadows (Chasity), Ryleigh Meadows (Michael Murray), Brianna Moore and Nathan Moore; his great grandchildren, Maci Kittrell, Lawson Meadows and Kane Meadows; his sister Jane Freeman (Doyle); and his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Slay, Peggy Martin (Gene), Connie Welch (Jimmy), Donna Hamrick (Jimmy) and Gary Riley (Stacy). He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital or your favorite charity.
