He was predeceased by: his wives, Jean Cheatham and Novella Ellis; and his children, David Cheatham, Sr. and Linda Jane Simmons. He is survived by: his daughter Daina Lay (Brian); and his grandchildren, Scarlett Ivy, Trey Carney, David Cheatham, Shannon Kabaspa, Nicole Davis and Jacob Cuevas. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
