He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E. McKenzie and Sarah McKenzie. He is survived by: his wife Mary McKenzie of Purvis; his children, Grant McKenzie (Connie) and Natalie Turnage (Eric) of Purvis; his grandchildren, Laurel McKenzie, Amelia McKenzie, Grayson McKenzie and Trinity Turnage; his sister Rebecca Burnett (Charles) of Sandy Hook; and his nephew Matthew Burnett.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either Willow Pointe Church in Hattiesburg or Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
