He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl McKnight and Clara Sorey McKnight; his daughter Renate Heck McKnight; his sisters, Earnestine Cooper and Earline Scruggs; and his stepdaughter Elaine Willoughby.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Blackledge McKnight; his children, Alfred McKnight (Gail), Monica McKnight Schellinger (Dan), Mona McKnight Dennis (late Larry) and Melody McKnight Thornton (Larry); his sister Anita Cummins; and his stepsons, Tim Jones (Kelly) and David Jones (Bonnie). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
