He is survived by: his children, Torey Payton of Florida, Marcello Payton of Florida, Joseph Payton of Georgia, Lakisha Durr of Jackson, MS and Latrice Payton of Florida; and his siblings, James Newsome of Prentiss, MS, Alford Barnes of Prentiss, MS, Daniel Barnes of Kanosha, WI, Earline Brown, Betty Jo Payton and Emma Jean Payton of Ohio. He is also survived by grandchildren: 19; great-grandchildren.
