He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron McPhail and Nelda Branton McPhail; his wife Nita McPhail; and his siblings, Billy Lavelle McPhail and Sharon McPhail Easterling.

He is survived by: his sons, Greg McPhail (Tabitha), Kendall McPhail of Prentiss and Donald Scott McPhail (Pepper) of Monticello; and his siblings, Harlos McPhail (Janie) and Carolyn Bryant (Wayne) of Prentiss.
