He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Barnes and Erna Mae Barnes; his son Timothy William Barnes; and his siblings, Calvin Barnes, Gary Dean Barnes, Donald Gene Barnes and Gloria Jean Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Spiers Barnes; his grandchildren, Samantha Nicole Barnes Crawford and Calvin William Barnes; his great grandchild Nicholas Crawford; his sister-in-law Lena Walker; and also Greg Shaw.
