He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roger Devender and Ethel Van Devender; his wife Fay Bell Van Devender; his brothers, Fred Van Devender and Harold Van Devender; his children, Doug Van Devender (Betty) and Dianne Sellers (Richard); his brother Bobby Van Devender (Corinne); his grandchildren, Matthew Van Devender (Jancee), Kim Douglass (Paul), Faith Van Devender, Bill Cruse (Morgan), Gordon Cruse (Emily) and Rick Sellers (Amanda); and his great grandchildren, Madalyn Van Devender, Julianne Van Devender, Levi Van Devender, Liam Cruse, Macie Cruse, Victor Cruse, Jackson Dennis, Tucker Reynolds and Anna Reese Sellers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pine Grove Baptist Church to purchase Bibles for George's favorite ministry: Joseph Omondi's Kenya Prison Ministry.
