He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Pearson Powell and Alma Hill Powell; his daughters, Pam Manghelli and Paula Morris; and his siblings, Roddie Powell (Della), Evelyn Lee (Marvin), Cavie Rekart (Ed), Jean Bilbo (Theo) and Bill Powell (Claudia).

He is survived by: his children, Trish Powell, Porsha Rowe (Dennis), John Powell (Michelle) and David Powell; and his son-in-law Allen Morris. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
