He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Self and Josie Self; his wives, Vera Self and Sue Chilcoat Weidman Self; his grandson John T. Self; his children-in-law, Brenda Self and Terry Hellums; and his siblings, Mary Graham, Bill, Vardie, Laron and Aaron Self.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Lamar Self (Jill) and Becky Hellums; his sister Lilly Ashworth; and his grandchildren, Ronnie Self (Rachel), Sam Self (Amanda), Sandy Pennington (J. T.), Misty Brown, Anthony Black (Emily), David Hellums (Jana) and Jeremy Hellums (Laura). He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Browning Funeral Home Chapel (141 W Oxford St, Pontotoc, MS 38863). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at the Turnpike Cemetery (313 Cane Creek Rd N, Pontotoc, MS 38863).
