He was predeceased by: his wife Janie Hester Swords; his parents, Ted Swords and Annie Mask Swords; and his siblings, James, Quinton, Larry Keith, Glen Dale, Herbert Clifford, Dewayne, Lannie Swords, Wilma Jean Robbins, Sue McLaughlin and Doris Huey.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Swords Montgomery (Troy), Tammy Merritt and Kevin Merritt (Amanda); and his siblings, Danny M. Swords (Carolyn), Herbert Swords (Rose), Charles H. Swords, Sherry Snider (Billy), Rose Bramlitt and Mary McCullough (Keith). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
