He was predeceased by: his parents, Ada Bell and Roy Jernigan; and his brothers, Eddie Roy Jernigan and Carl Ray Jernigan. He is survived by: his wife Laura Dilworth Jernigan; his children, Candice LaKia Smith of Shreveport, Leonard Lanell Jernigan, Jr and Lashunda Aisha Jernigan of Saltillo, Mississippi; his sister Mary Lou Douglas of Dallas, Georgia; his cousin Dr. Jimmy Barnes of Tupelo, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Tyler Jernigan of Nettleton, Mississippi, Beyonica, Taveon Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana, Skylin, Saige Jernigan of Tupelo, Mississippi and Kyns; his aunts, Mary Ballard of Durham, Fannie Milsap and Willie Estes of Kansas City, Missouri; his sister-in-law Lucille Jernigan of Columbia; and his nieces, Misty Lagrone of Dallas and Lytonya Jernigan of Columbia, Maryland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
