It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virgie Murtagh (Pickens, Mississippi), who passed away on March 14, 2019, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James Edwin Murtagh (Jimmy); her son Walter Ronald Murtagh; her parents, Dolph Hammett and Virgie Hammett; and her brother Harold Dodd Hammett.
She is survived by: her sons, James Edwin Murtagh Jr (Eddy) and Johnny Thomas Murtagh (Cathy); her daughter-in-law Lisa Murtagh; her siblings, Libby Dittmar, Flossie Goode, Richard Hammett (Chris), Brenda Adams (Thomas), Robert Hammett (Terrell), Shelia Hammett, Notie Turner (Mike), Dell Waxman (Sammy) and Tammie Courts (Myron); her sister-in-law Rosemary Hammett; and her grandchildren, Josh Murtagh, Jason Murtagh, Bryan Murtagh, Jay Murtagh, Nicholas Murtagh, Hallie Ruth Rutledge (Bailey) and John Thomas Murtagh. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
