He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Lackey Thompson; his children, Cynthia Gentry Shumpert (Kenny), John Wesley Thompson, III (Mary), Jeff Wayne Thompson and Barry Eugene Gentry (Stephanie); and his sister Virginia Crawford (Louie). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; his several great grandchildren.
