He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritz Sampson Whitfield and Louvinia Catherine Bounds Whitfield; and his siblings, Lavone Thomas, Leola Spiers, Norma Joyce Tulk, Lena Mae Mitchell, Leroy Whitfield, L. D. Whitfield, Tom Whitfield and Bob Whitfield.
He is survived by: his wife Carylon Richardson Whitfield; his children, Rhonda Wynette Ladner (Randy) and Donovan E. Whitfield (Susan); his grandchildren, Michael "Drew", Donovan "Brant", Morgan, Jeffrey, Summer, Maggie, Peyton and Trevor; his great grandchildren, Kaden and Katie Lou; and his brothers, Shane Whitfield (Pat) and David Whitfield (Bonnie).
