He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleo Derringer Shepherd and J. B. Shepherd; his daughter Jamie Shepherd; and his siblings, Betty Herring, Brenda Artigues, Delores Frickey, Faye Raby, Patricia Coludrovich, J. B. Shepherd Jr. and Wayne Shepherd.
He is survived by: his wife Lisa Taylor Shepherd; his children, Lillie Christine Marie Ard (Brett), Darrell Anthony Shepherd Jr., A. J. Pace (Amanda), Darrin Shepherd, Daniel Shepherd (Amy), Andy Shepherd (Stephanie), Jay Shepherd (Bethany), Michael Ard (Megan) and Joshua Ard (Alexia); and his sisters, Vivian Drawdy, Bobbie Sullivan and Rita Frickey. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
