He was predeceased by: his parents, R. O. "Doc" Mitchell and Mary Thigpen Mitchell; his wife Laura "Ozell" Mitchell; and his siblings, R. O. Mitchell, Jr., Woodrow Mitchell, Norvel Mitchell, Donald Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Pauline Thompson, Evelyn Sones, Hazel Grant, Jean Kellar and Linda Stuart.
He is survived by: his sisters, Azoline Smith and Verna Mae Shepard; and his sister-in-law Josephine Mitchell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Thigpen Cemetery (111 Williamsburg Rd, Picayune, MS 39466).
