He was predeceased by: his wife Nettie Sylvest; his mother Mattie Lott; his stepfather Thomas A. Lott; his father Ali Sylvest; and his siblings, M. L. Sylvest, T. L. Lott, Mack Crafton, Jimmy Wayne Crafton, Clinith Sylvest, Catherine Bond, LaRue Scarborough and Gracie Morris.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Milstead, Teresa Clark (Jimmy), Ann Green (Lindon) and Joe Sylvest (Angie); and his siblings, Naomi Cabe, Mary Jewel White, James Lott and Carrol Sylvest. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
