He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiley Coffman Strickland and Thelma Motes Strickland; his wife Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Strickland; his son Clifford Dale Strickland; and his sisters, Dorothy Faye Aguda, Irma Lea Taormina, Stella Mae Carlton and Ruth Maxie.

He is survived by: his children, James O. "Jimbo" Strickland, Jr. (Liz) of Petal and Angie Burnett (Clayton) of Richton; and his grandchildren, Mandy Adams (Casey), Colby Strickland (Ashley), Kimberly Williamson (Shaun), Jamie Strickland, Juli Innabnit (Corey), Kayla Burnett and Jared Strickland. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
