He was predeceased by: his wife Janeil Stewart Dukes; his parents, W. W. Dukes and Lorena Dukes; his siblings, William Francis "Bill" Dukes and Betty Dukes Craft; his brother-in-law George Craft; and his niece Laurie Symmes.
He is survived by: his children, James K. Dukes, Jr., Jan Elizabeth Dukes and William W. "Bill" Dukes; his daughter-in-law Kimberly Batson Dukes; his grandchildren, Ashton Dukes and Kelly Dukes (Natalee); his great grandchild Karlee Batson Dukes; his caregivers, Judy, Nathan Franklin, Jim, Trondelette Stokes and Bookie; and his pet Dos. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Department, Homes of Hope for Children or Main Street Baptist Church.
