He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Harper and Ethel Mae Harper; and his siblings, Bill Harper, W. C. Harper, Noilette King, Ethlyn Tyner, Betty Harper and Janie Lee.
He is survived by: his wife Addie Harper of Petal; his sons, James B. Harper Jr. (Sandra) of Petal, Michael D. Harper of Gulfport, Troy Allen Harper of Hattiesburg and Bryant Harper (Christina) of Purvis; and his sisters, Leah McCollough and Bonnie McLeod (Gwen). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
