He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Cuevas and Willie Shavers Cuevas; and his wife Betty Cuevas (Westbrook). He is survived by: his children, Dean Cuevas, Darren Cuevas (Michel), Dana Kennedy (Shad) and Deanna Russell (Joe); his grandchildren, Bradley Cuevas, Jessica Cuevas, Lexi Kennedy, Landon Kennedy, Ryleigh Kennedy, Abigayle Mitchell (Wesley), Cody Russell, Wesley Russell and Ainsley Russell; and his great grandchildren, Graham Mitchell and Luke Mitchell.
