He is survived by: his children, Gretta Evans, Rebecca Laughlin (Lenny) and Gary Varner Jr. (Raeann); his stepdaughter Marcy Burnell (Lewis); his grandchildren, Tyler (Brianna), Jessica, Hayley (Brad), Zachary (Natalie Brady), Noah, Miah, Braden and Easton; and his siblings, Gayle James (Kenny) and Butch Varner (Betty). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
Gary was blessed with the donation of a lung.
