He was predeceased by: his parent R. C. (Dovie Dyess); and his sister Gaye Dyess Polk of Carson, MS.. He is survived by: his wife Fredna Dyess; his children, Randy Dyess (Dianne), Rhonda Dyess Cullom and Rachelle McLees (Steve); and his siblings, Dicy Dyess (Hugh) of Carson, MS, Neal (Paulette) of Pelahatchie, MS and Margie Dyess Dear (Johnny) of Brandon, MS. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Eastside Baptist Church (3464 Patterson Dr, Pearl, MS 39208). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Brandon Memorial Gardens (MS-468, Brandon, MS 39042).
