He was predeceased by: his parents, John Paul Leonhard and Ella Leonhard; his son Michael Leonhard; and his siblings, Oliver, Eugene, Rueben Leonhard, Anna Yanko, Gertrude Oldenburg, Pearl Palmer and Ellen Norgard.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Leonhard; his children, Paula Smith (Robert), Tina Ladner (Stephen), Michelle Freeman, Amanda Carnahan (Michael), Angel Diaz (Charles), Joan Gundlach (Ron), Steven Leonhard, Russell Leonhard, Dave Leonhard and John Leonhard, Jr. (Tammy); his sisters, Marjorie Rodriquez (Joe) and Joyce Fulton; his niece Mary Rose Long; and his daughter-in-law Jamie Leonhard. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren.
