He was predeceased by: his parents, James Owens, Sr. and Lillian Carey Owens; his brothers, Charles Owens, Jessie Owens, Frankie Owens and Willie Owens; his grandparents, Louis and Melvina P. Carey; his great-nephew Lentrell Owens; and his aunts and uncles, Wilson, James Carey, Leona Miller, Leola Miller, Luberta Dunbar, Ollie Boudreaux, Shirley Carey and Eva Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Owens; his children, Roosevelt Owens, Jr. (Whitney) and Ro'Ciarra Owens; his grandchildren, Ty'Rianah Owens, Re'Nasia Owens, Re'Shaila Owens, Travion Owens, Selena Ankom and Jayce Champion; his siblings, James Owens (Cora) of Prairieville, LA, Mary York (Roy) of Prairieville, LA, Leonard Owens (Betty) of Gonzales, LA, Leroy Owens (Tammy) of Gonzales, LA, Linda Owens of Gonzales, LA, Madrell Owens of Gonzales, LA and Cynthia Jarrell (Walter) of Baton Rouge, LA; and his aunt Althea Jenkins. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
