He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlotte Ryder Wood and Albert G Wood; and his sister Melody Moore. He is survived by: his birth mother Frankie Baker Lindsey (Alta Davis Wood) of Pascagoula; his daughters, Jennifer Prather (Allen Prather) and Amber Jones (Robert Jones); his grandchildren, Kaylyn Gartrell (Chase Gartrell), Drake Jones and Dawson Jones; his brothers, Bill Lindsey (Phillis Lindsey) and Donald Lindsey (Pam Lindsey); and his brother-in-law Treadwell Davis, Jr. (Lori Davis). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“I am so sorry to hear that my good friend has passed away. Steve and I along with Alta sang together at Dantzler Memorial Methodist church many years age when Alta was the choir director. More recently we sang in the Singing River Chorale for about 15 years. He was a dear friend and a fine musician. I have no doubt that Steve is in the Presence of the LORD even now and I look forward to singing with him again "When we all get to Heaven". My sympathies to Alta and the whole family. Laurin A.”
