He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. George A. Smith and Nina Beasley Smith; and his siblings, George A. Smith Jr., Edna Caldwell, Gertrude Geddie, Lessie McCarty, Elizabeth Matthews, Frances Smith, Billie Kline, Aileene Walin Thompson and Annette Yarbrough.
He is survived by: his wife Jeannette Brown; his children, Brad Smith (Linda) of Pascagoula and Alice Leipzig (Jim) of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Sara, Doug Smith of Pascagoula, Jordan and Haley Leipzig of Los Angeles; his sister Martha Jo Hayes; and his siblings-in-law, James Hayes of Hattiesburg and Joyce Smith of Laurel.
