He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter McDaniel and V'Allison McDaniel; and his grandmother Reba Riley. He is survived by: his wife Edna Mae McDaniel; and his grandchildren, Ashley Blair Hall, Randy Blair, April Montgomery Blackburn, Justin Montgomery, Anthony McDaniel, Jacob Sharr, Johnathan Sharr and Jimmy Sharr.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. James requested memorials to be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 2315, Pascagoula, MS 39569-2315.
